A new U3A group has started in Cheltenham, to play Boules (Petanque) in Sandford Park.

We meet on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 9:50, in time to arrange [randomly chosen] teams for a 10:00 start. You are welcome to come to either
or both days. A session lasts about two hours, during which we play three games. You can easily just come for one or two games, if the three games
mean too long in the fresh air!

Some will play regularly, others played on holiday, some will be beginners; all are welcome to join the group on the new terrain, in Sandford Park. We can
loan you boules.

The terrain which is situated beside the Lido, between the café and the hospital’s heliport X mark, has three pistes.

We will happily explain and demonstrate the game to any of our members; just curiosity is a good enough reason for any novice to come and try. The rules
are not complicated; the scoring is elementary. Consider it as an excellent mix of gentle outdoor exercise and friendly rivalry which lasts for the duration of
the game all in a sociable atmosphere.

Your participation in this activity will be influenced by the weather; each will have a different weather forecast to hand. If it does look too wet and windy for most to play, I will email everyone before 08:00 on the day.
