French Discussion provides an opportunity to practise and improve your spoken and written French with the help of two native French U3A members.  We decided to form two groups of approximately 8 in order to accommodate more members and to give everyone plenty of opportunity to participate.  The Group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 2.30 – 4.30pm.  The Everyman Theatre  kindly provides us with a comfortable venue, so we are able to meet over a cup of tea or coffee.

There is no formal instruction but instead, members prepare an input (written and/or spoken) on a subject chosen by the group, and there is also time for general conversation.  We cover a wide range of subjects.  Recent examples include Charitable Organisations, Humans and Animals and The Home.   We try to speak exclusively in French during the sessions.  The atmosphere is friendly and informal and our native French speakers very supportive.  We often stray from the subject under discussion and there is usually a lot of laughter!
